Siloxene-Polymer Composite Nanofiber Towards High-Performance Triboelectric Harvesters and Self-Powered Sensors

This work reports a high-performance triboelectric energy harvester (TENG) using novel composite nanofibers comprised of 2D Siloxene/Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). The Siloxene nanosheets containing negative functional groups (-O, -OH) were blended into the PVDF matrix through electrospinning technique, resulting in a highly negative and robust nanofiber with dielectric property and surface potential enhancement by 170 % and 45.41%, respectively. After pairing with Nylon 6/6 nanofiber, the TENG can deliver a peak power of 5.15 mW (12.875 Wm −2 ) at 1MΩ, which corresponds to the performance improvement by 1.716 times when compared to pristine PVDF. Finally, the energy harvesting, and self-powered dynamic pressure-sensing capabilities are practically demonstrated.
