V2CTX Functionalized Self-Powered Triboelectric Sensors for Sign Language Interpretation

Herein, a novel charge-generating layer of V2CTX/Silicone nanocomposite is developed and applied to fabricate a serpentine structured TENG (SS-TENG) for sign language interpretation. Because of the high electronegative surface of V2CTX, the surface potential and current density of V2CTX/Silicone composite were significantly increased 5.57 and 9.17 times, respectively. The fabricated SS-TENG exhibited excellent performance, including a power density of 19.75 W/m2, a sensitivity of 4.93 VkPa-1, and high mechanical stretchability (400%). The developed SS-TENG was presented as a self-powered human motion sensor as well as sign language recognition utilizing finger motion detection and text conversion using smartphone applications.
